About the Owners:

Dave Bateman and his wife Trudy are founding owners of Heavenly Hawaiian in Kona, Hawaii.  Dave served as Judge Advocate General (JAG) in the USAF/USAFR from 1972-1997, and retired with the rank of Colonel.  He was in private law practice both in North San Diego County CA and later after his military service, in Olympia WA. He retired from law practice in 2005 to move to Kona HI to acquire Heavenly Hawaiian Farm.  Trudy retired from St Peters Hospital ER in Olympia later in 2005.  Dave and Trudy now own and manage the original 37.5 acre Kona coffee farm as well as a new 7.5 acre coffee farm.  Dave is very involved in Kona coffee councils and boards. He ran for the Hawaii State House of Representatives in 2012 and 2014.  He was the SBA Exporter of the Year for the Big Island in 2014 and was featured in the Veterapreneurs magazine in 2007. Also check out his interview with William Shatner about his transformation from courtroom to coffee orchard to be included in Shatner’s new book.  He and Trudy are wonderful people whom you can meet by touring their farm, Heavenly Hawaiian in Kona, Big Island of Hawaii. (there is even a VRBO house you can rent on the farm for your next vacation!).  See you on the farm!

Elaine Krazer is a Dallas-based entrepreneur, author and project management expert whose consulting company, Align Projects, has served clients including General Electric, NASA, BP and the Department of Energy. She previously owned event management companies that included barista kiosk services and she grew up on a coffee plantation in Kenya on the edge of the Rift Valley. She is our business development officer and COO. (that’s Chief Operations Officer, not short for COOL chick–even though it fits!)

David Krazer is our roaster, having managed service departments at several auto dealerships, it’s the gears and the grinds that make him happy. Rarely seen without a cup o’ java, he is focused on customer service and knows his bean. He can tell a story or two, even about the church he serves as facilities manager. Raised in Illinois, he is more Texan than many born here.
